Masked Rioters Clash at Mendiola

Masked individuals dressed in black attempted to breach police lines at Mendiola Bridge on Sunday, leading to violent clashes near the road to Malacañan Palace.
Some demonstrators carried Philippine flags, while others displayed a black banner with the One Piece Straw Hat Jolly Roger. The situation escalated when rioters hurled stones at police shields and set a trailer on fire, producing heavy smoke. Another vehicle was also targeted for burning.

The crowd advanced in waves, throwing debris and pushing against barricades. Authorities said minors were among the masked participants.

Police responded by pushing back with shields and arresting several individuals. At least 10 suspects were taken into custody, while some officers sustained minor injuries during the confrontation.

Authorities are investigating whether organized groups were behind the disturbance, which disrupted order at the historic protest site.
