Actress Angel Aquino joined thousands of Filipinos at Rizal Park in Manila on September 21 for the rally “Baha sa Luneta: Aksyon na Laban sa Korapsyon.” She stood among several celebrities who actively participated in nationwide demonstrations that called for accountability and transparency in government.

In an interview with media news, Aquino voiced her long-standing wish for better conditions in the country. She said Filipinos deserve a better life, but worsening problems continue to burden the people.

“The situation of our people should be better by now, but sadly, it keeps getting worse through the years,” Aquino said. “Even today, things have not improved. I believe it’s time for all of us to speak out. I hope today will matter and at least make an impact.”

Aquino also expressed hope that the rally would inspire change, even if it comes slowly. “I hope this begins a change in some way—that people see that many of us truly care,” she said. “We need to act as one nation. I hope more people will listen, notice, and follow.”

On the same afternoon, protesters gathered at the EDSA People Power Monument for the “Trillion Peso March.” The simultaneous rallies amplified the public’s demand for accountability from officials.

Both events drew energy from mounting outrage over alleged anomalies in flood control projects now under congressional investigation. Organizers stressed that the demonstrations reminded government leaders that citizens demand reforms and will continue pressing for accountability.
