Economists criticize EJ Antoni appointment

Economists have attacked EJ Antoni, the projected head of the Bureau of Labour Statistics, for politicizing the agency.
Economists accused EJ Antoni, former Heritage Foundation chief economist and Project author, of politicizing the impartial Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Trump’s nomination comes after a Bureau of Labour Statistics report showed hiring slowed in July and was lower than expected.
Trump claimed political reasons “rigged” the data and fired Erika McEntarfer, who was then the BLS chair.
Trump’s continued false claims about the US economy, including gas and egg prices, coincide with Antoni’s recent nomination announcement.
The administration describes Antoni as an “economic expert” who has testified before Congress in support of his candidacy.
However, some portray Antoni as a conservative ideologue, citing his podcast appearances and accusing him of supporting Trump with falsehoods.
