Government is investigating at least 30 individuals linked to the disappearance of sabungeros who went missing between 2021 and 2022.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that the case involves several people, probably more than 30.
Whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan told Remulla that kidnappers abducted, killed, and dumped over 100 sabungeros in Taal Lake. Authorities found a human hip bone and rib in the lake.

Patidongan accused Atong Ang as mastermind and linked Gretchen Barretto, but both denied any role in the missing sabungeros’ disappearance.

Authorities placed 15 police officers, who allegedly carried out the killings in the missing sabungeros case, on restricted duty.

DOJ Secretary urged families of missing sabungeros to submit DNA samples for matching and storage in the department’s DNA bank.
